This is where your website visitor gets his PC "infected" with a cookie and thereafter only sees your banner ad on other websites (that carry ads.)

The website he/she visits has to a member of that banner-ad network. It is a very effective way of preventing your competitors from getting in the way of catching the attention of your potential customer/ prospect.

Prices vary according to what websites you want to have show your banner ad. In Europe this type of advertising is still in its infancy. The US and Canada have seen this for a few years already. As such it is a hot item to get in to now for Europe and Middle East. It could mean all the difference.

Your ad gets additional exposure to customers and prospects who have already visited your website. You could say when you buy banner following, you are in effect following that prospect around on the web and showing your ad repeatedly. It makes it seem that "you are everywhere" for them.

Eventually it can help persuade them to come back and buy from you. As they have already expressed an interest (after all they did click on an ad of yours, otherwise they would have never gotten that cookie from you in the first place) these prospects just need a little more convincing. In many cases "more convincing" just means they need to see that your Brand is "around" more.
