B2B Marketers Embrace Social Media - but provide no results data

The following article shows results from a recent survey of B2B marketers.

Again it extolls the virtues of  Social Media. Just because "everyone is doing it" doesn't necesarilly mean it's profitable.

As you'll see there is a huge increase of Linkedin & Facebook being used in B2B lead generation.

The question again must be - is it making the cash-register ring? Judge for yourself here:

The truth about long copy

Dear Direct Response Letter Subscriber:

Recently JN, one of my readers, sent me an e-mail very similar
in sentiment to dozens of other e-mails I have received over the
years.

"Why do marketers like ETR and AWAI send me 16-page DM packages
when the copywriter could have said the same thing in 1 to 2
pages?" JN writes.

"The prospect might even buy out of gratitude for not having to
wade through those 16 pages and breathe a sigh of relief instead
of snarl a nasty expletive."

But JN is not through lambasting long-copy direct marketing yet.
Her e-mail continues:

Company Websites outperform Social Media

What does "too much email" mean?

This article, written by master B2B Copywriter Bob Bly is a great yardstick for determining how much email you can send out. Bob has been a master at b2b lead generation for over thirty years. He has taught many, now successful, copywriters achieve professional levels.

I've had the good fortune to have heard several of his seminars and spoken to him personally on occasion. This article was sent to me recently and because it's so valuable for all lead generation efforts, I'm re-publishing it here.

11 Reasons for a Paid Subscription Newsletter

So many marketing techniques are applicable to B2B lead generation, yet are very often overlooked as not being "sophisticated enough". Even though the person that signs the cheque is still a person - and therefore responds to the same sales & marketing principles as any other consumer would - B2B marketers are often still wary of using simple methods.
One of those is a paid newsletter.

Inspired Marketing quotes

Below are an assortment of inspired (and inspiring) quotes for marketing and advertising. When you're diong a lot of B2B lead generation things can get tough. It's not by chance there are very few real lead generation companies operational in the B2B sector.

So in light of that, and in celebration of the few, rare birds that do venture into the world B2B marketing, here are some great words from some of the world's finest ad-people & marketers.

3 Tactics to drive online video Sales

There is increasing evidence to show that video is an important part of the online retailer’s arsenal.
Most recently, a study by the e-tailing group found that online video usage on product pages among
the top 100 retailers soared 18 percent between the end of 2009 and the end of 2010.

Why Less is Sometimes More

Entrepreneurs, by nature, instinct, conditioning, and competitive spirit, are very into “more”. So are sales professionals. More gross revenues. More sales. More customers or clients. More web site traffic. More leads. Even more square footage, more employees. But more is not necessarily better, not necessarily more profitable or even proportionately profitable. The unbridled lust for growth of any kind at any cost gets a lot of business owners into a lot of trouble. For salespeople, it can lead to burn-out. For both, their best clientele being poorly served and neglected as quality thins to accommodate quantity.

Google Webmaster Tools not good for SEO

B2B Search Engine Optimisation

We've all done as Google says, like a good boy, that we should add our sites to Google's Webmaster Tools panel. Evidence has now come to light that the algo might not be working to your advantage by doing so.
